Hello fellow Yuletide participant, and thank you for taking the time to read this and to make something for me for this fabulous exchange!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve for me and I hope this letter helps you create something both that elaborates on what I like about these canons and that you enjoy creating. Of course these are all optional details, and you are free to discard them and go your own direction, but if you need a bit of that, and also would like to know what to avoid in regards to my preferences, read on.

General Preferences:

Mission fic/case fic where the characters solve a problem; displays of loyalty between characters, uneven or complicated power dynamics, kneeling; Ust, resolved ust, friends to lovers, enemies/rivals to lovers; Angst and hurt/comfort; Friendship, fondness, matured relationships, quiet family time; fluff, slice-of-life, humor & general shenanigans; Wild escapes, daring rescues, Adventure; Making camp together, cuddling up for warmth; Exploring or expanding on existing canon and lore; worldbuilding; Anything pre- or post-canon. If there is a sex scene please nothing over a T-rating.

Content Do-Not-Wants:

Please no additional characters or OCs unless used in passing mention to facilitate worldbuilding. No main character death within the work (references to a dead character, mooks dying during action sequences, or canonical unavoidable death are fine); no character hate or bashing of any kind; no unrequested background pairings; no first-person, second-person, readerfic, no alternate settings like Modern AUs, High School AUs or no-magic AUs in magical settings, or crossovers with other canons; no changing the race, sexuality, gender, or appearance from canon characters established traits; no rape/noncon or sex with underage characters; no breathplay, choking, or restraints of any kind; no injury or harm to children; no bestiality or harm to animals; no humiliation, bodily fluid or excretory kink; no torture physical or mental; no pregnancy; no tentacles, oviposition, inflation, body horror, or omegaverse dynamics.

Now that that's out of the way, here are the canons and characters I'm requesting:

Palia
 - Najuma, Hodari, Tamala, Hassian

Palia has such a large cast of fun characters, but I picked these four characters because they all live outside on on the fringes of Kilima out in Bahari Bay. I like how they're all still interdependent - like Hassian visiting Hodari and Najuma to bring them something for dinner, or Hodari going to find Tamala for medicine because he doesn't get along with Chayne, Tamala still having her fingers in various pies despite being the most remote of the villagers, Najuma finding big and little ways to take control of her life despite many setbacks like making her own prosthesis and selling her fireworks to Zeki and Hassian for them to sell elsewhere.

If you're interested in delving into how Hassian and Tamala's relationship happened there are a lot of little details in the game that give a sketch and it clearly still affects them both though it's over. There are hints, too, that Tamala is a bit thirsty for Hodari but he doesn't reciprocate the feeling, which I find amusing. Is there anything between Hodari and Hassian beyond friendship, I wonder?

Feel free to use one or multiple characters of this set as you like.

Dragon Age: Absolution
 - Qwydion, Lacklon, Fairbanks, Roland

This show, though I love many things about it, it did not have time to get too into the weeds of how the characters interacted while travelling from Nevarra to Tevinter. If you've only seen the show I'd love more about who they are and their journey together during those 6 episodes, and what they think of each other. If you're familiar with the larger pool of DA lore feel free to add in references to other aspects of Thedas - I've read and watched and played pretty much everything available.

Some things you could dig into are how Lacklon and Roland's relationship developed outside of a few flirts and that big damn kiss, and how it developed afterwards, too; if you're familiar with the larger body of Dragon Age lore you could delve into how Qwydion managed to get trained as a full-fledged mage without being a slave or a saarebas or Tal-Vashoth (or was she?) just anything about her really, she seems very familiar with Tevinter to be able to fool a shopkeeper there; Fairbanks talks a lot about his wife but who was she, how did they meet, was she in the Inquisition? He seems like he'd have some very harrowing campfire stories.

Feel free to use one or multiple characters of this set as you like, but I prefer you do not break up Lacklon and Roland.

Slay the Spire -
Defect, Ironclad, Watcher, Silent

While this game is deceptively simple, I was obsessed with playing it for months, climbing ever higher with each of the characters (I still haven't defeated the Corrupt Heart), trying to master their styles. The Defect is probably my favorite with his orbs and devices, but I've played the heck out of the other three, too, so I'm familiar with their cards and abilities.

I'd love a bit of worldbuilding from the perspective of one or all of the main playable characters - acquiring cursed treasures, encountering monsters and thieves and mushrooms, harnessing abilities that sometimes hurt as much as help. I adore the bird cultists so anything involving them is good, too.

Feel free to use one or multiple characters of this set as you like.

Witch Hunter Robin - Robin, Amon, Karasuma, Nagira

My first fandom! I would love something about any of the characters here, and how they interact. Though initially Amon, Karasuma, and Robin are all just co-workers, they do all seem to grow to care about each other and are conflicted over what they have to do knowing they could be the subject of a hunt at any given moment. I like how fraught and careful their interactions are, and how Robin shakes things up despite being relatively quiet and demure.

It's not delved into too much but Amon and Nagira are half-brothers, through their mother, though only one of them has abilities. Perhaps you could dig into more of their history and what drove Nagira to help the people his brother hunts.

Feel free to use one or multiple characters of this set as you like, though I do prefer Amon/Robin as a romantic pair for this canon if you want to do something shippy.

Dragon Age: The Masked Empire
 - Briala, Celene, Felassan, Imshael

Out of the Dragon Age novels, this one is my favorite. I'm versed in pretty much all of the various DA media, so if you want to pull in references from the games or books that is fine. This set of characters has a lot you could work with, from Briala and Celene's extremely complicated and unequal relationship, to Felassan's mentorship and friendship with Briala over the years, to Felassan's deep knowledge of elven history and magic. I find it fascinating that Imshael is fully aware that Felassan is not who he says he is, and alludes that they know of each other from long, long ago - our favorite Choice spirit Imshael can read minds so he knows exactly who and what Felassan is working for, even if he doesn't tell the others.

I'll be happy with anything with these characters whether it's something worldbuildy with magic and spirits and Imshael creating mischief, or focusing on a quiet moment between Celene and Briala; perhaps more of Felassan's musings on the foibles of his people and what they've become, and the moment he realizes he needs to stay out of their way and intervene instead on what he'd been helping to set in motion before he meets his doom.

Feel free to use one or multiple characters of this set as you like, though I do prefer Celene and Briala as the only romantic pair.

Cowboy Bebop - Faye, Ed, Jet, Spike

An old favorite, I just love this crew and both the tragedy and hope that they encapsulate. I'm not particularly interested in any ship for this canon. The found family/failed found family aspect is what I like from this group of characters; more of their interactions on a job or on the Bebop would be fantastic. Focusing on one character and how they interact with the post-cataclysm space-faring world would be lovely, too. Jet and his bonsai collection and how he manages to maintain his hobby though they're always starving, Spike always laying low and living always in the moment on the edge of his seat for when it all falls apart, Ed trying to construct an identity while fluttering between these weirdos, Faye forcefully dredging up her past and having no choice but to let it go because she's outlived all of her people by 70 years. Love. It.

Feel free to use one or multiple characters of this set as you like, I love them all and will love anything you make for them.

And now I've run out of steam, though I'm sure I'll think of something I should have added later. Better to get started on my own work, I think, lol. Thank you again for taking the time to read this, and I hope you have a good time writing and a wonderful holiday season!
